Why Society loves to Gossip

Society loves to gossip about celebrities because they want to find something wrong about them. Mostly everybody loves to talk about celebrities because they are popular and all over T.V. I would say rumours start from the paparazzi. They are the people who take pictures and spy on them and most of time take another meaning from a picture. That’s when people talk about it and the word gets all around the world through magazine and people.

People enjoy talking about certain celebrities like Britney Spears because she has made a lot of stupid mistakes and us people, just want to make it something big and make her look like a bad person. Brittney Spears is different from all of us because she is a popular celebrity who married her dancer and then had two kids and then shaved her head and what not. Some people think she is probably insane. Britney does have feelings and maybe people don’t know what she is going through but Britney doesn’t try to solve the issue she just kind of gets into problem after problem. I’m assuming she likes all the media attention because she doesn’t say anything against what is said about her and what she is doing.
People also talked about the VMA’s and how she was dressed and how it was inappropriate. They also talked about her weight and how she looked fat. I agree with all these things but people have to consider how she had two kids.

In an article that I read it said Britney Spears changed her 9-month old baby, Sean Preston’s diaper on the floor next to a cash register and it also says she tried handing the dirty diaper the employee but they didn’t take it. Now, the argument is that the women’s bathroom has a changing table and why wouldn’t she change it there? Clearly you can tell she cant doesn’t care about what actions she takes. Now, if Britney goes around doing these types of things, then the Society is going to talk about what she does. They are also going to say how crazy she is that she changed her sons diaper like that.

I think this kind of makes us people look bad at some point because when we hear something we tend to spread it and make it worse. People can’t get enough of gossip. People talking about people and celebrities and this will probably never stop because people are so use to it and they want to hear what celebrities have done wrong. I think people feel better talking about other people’s problems like celebrities then talking about their own problems.

How Much Media Can Affect You over the Weekend

I have never paid attention to media and where it is. But, over the time I have noticed where ever you go you will find media related things. Some things surprise me about my interactions to media like when I go out to eat to a restaurant or when I drive to my cousin’s or grocery store, I see a bunch of advertisements or people listening to iPods etc... Before, I use to see all these things but I would never think that it is related to media. Now, I start to notice the billboards and on City Buses how they advertise things.

Some things don’t surprise me about my interaction with media because I know I would probably see it like in the grocery store and you mostly see everything in the grocery store like food, hygiene, candy, clothes, shoes, perfume and electronics but I would still say I’m surprised to see so much media in one place. It didn’t really occur to me that so much was around me.

I would say my exposure to media is just right because I see it everywhere but sometimes I don’t notice it but now I am more aware of it. Now, I probably will pay attention to where I see media related thing and will probably be able to point everything out unlike before when I didn’t care as much.

If I look at my list I made over the weekend, I’m pretty surprised to see how much media I was exposed to even though I didn’t go to many places. I’ve noticed there is a lot of media on the computer like pop-ups and on the side of websites how they advertise iPods and cell phones. Also, when I drove to my cousin’s house I noticed things like billboards and people talking on their cell phones in their cars or people walking and talking on their cell phones. I would say that I mostly noticed media on T.V like car commercials, people advertising iPods, basketball shoes, and movies. On T.V on I was watching Much Music, and they were talking about the daily news on and they talk about celebrities and what they did wrong and who got accused of what and they talk about bands and when I was watching it that night I realized I had never heard of these bands and some celebrities. I also checked the mail Friday night and I saw a bunch of flyers on like selling your house, cell phones, pizza advertisement and coupons. I had never cared to notice these things.

If there is too much media, then people will stop paying attention to it. So, if you sometimes pay attention to the media you are exposed to then it won’t bother you as much. You will enjoy seeing everywhere. That’s why I think my exposure to media is just right because I only pay attention to things that I am interested in.

Overall, I am very surprised of how much media I have been exposed to considering that I have on been out to a couple of different places and been sitting at home most of the time. I would have been exposed to much more media if I had gone out to more places.

Was this Avrils Mistake?

When I was listening to the Rubinoo’s songs “I wanna be your boyfriend” and Avril’s song “Girlfriend” the tempo and rhythm were the same but I don’t think the lyrics are the same except for “Hey hey, you, you I want be your girlfriend” instead of saying boyfriend Avril replaced it with girlfriend. Other than that the lyrics was not the same.

Carlin who was upset because Avril made a lot of money off of this song that was originally his client which was the Rubinoo’s. This is a quote directly from him, "She's made a lot of money off of my client's song,'' Carlin told the Canadian Press. You can clearly see if a song is re-created from another artist and makes a lot of money then they usually file a law-suit.

Avril says she has been falsely accused for this law-suit. Avril also had something to say about this and she said, "You may have heard some news that two guys who wrote for some band from the 1970s I have never in my life heard of called the "Rubinoos" are trying to sue me. They have a song called "I Want To Be Your Boyfriend" that has no musical similarities to the song "Girlfriend" that Luke Gottwald and I wrote together." She also mentions something like this in her MySpace and she also says “I had never heard this song in my life" and "all songs share similar lyrics and emotions. As humans we speak one language."

I think Avril Lavigne has plagiarized most of the song like the tempo, rhythm and the main part of the lyrics which is the chorus.

I think at first when she was accused of plagiarizing it was a big deal to people. People would talk about it and never let go of it. They might even stop listening to her music or even stop buying her albums because she’s not honest. But, afterwards, like a few months after people stop caring as much. They talk about the other latest news instead of something old like Avril’s case. This says that overall the society only cares about issues that are first out but afterwards when it’s been awhile they stop caring because nobody else is talking about it and it old news. This says that people only talk because other people talk and they make things sound really bad and afterwards they don’t care about what kind of things they said. At the beginning of this problem of plagiarism, people really get upset and say negative things and that’s when it starts to affect Avril’s career depending on what people say.

A singer’s job is to create songs and that’s what Avril was trying to do. Avril plagiarized some parts of the song like the tempo, rhythm and the chorus of the songs, as I have mentioned before. If people read that Avril have plagiarized, some people might not think it’s a big deal because mostly all artists get charged or accused of plagiarizing something. Some people might really care about her plagiarizing from the Rubinoo’s songs. It all depends on what people’s beliefs, values and opinions are about these kinds of issues. For example, if people really care about people plagiarizing they will stand up and say something and other people who don’t care they will just sit back and not do anything.

I don’t think this will play a part in Avril’s image because it is artist’s job to produce songs and I guess some choose to plagiarize. I think if the artist’s don’t listen to other artist’s songs it would be pretty hard to create songs.

I think people have stopped caring about all this plagiarism stuff because it’s getting so common, it’s happening a lot. It wares off fast. People talk and talk and then it’s over, they talk about the other latest news.

Now, I think a lot more artists plagiarize and don’t really care because they make their own version of the song. Plagiarism is happening more and more often like Beyonce (Still in Love (Kissing You)). She was accused of plagiarising Des’ree Weeks song called “I’m Kissing You” I don’t think this will ever stop, there will always be at least one or two cases of plagiarism. Maybe’ it will affect some celebrities and maybe it won’t but if you think of it celebrities have no fear of plagiarizing because they have loads of money and if they get fined they can just pay it off.
